The ARRA Response Team has assembled Frequently Asked Questions regarding ARRA funding for Duke faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students.

Current ARRA FAQs

  1. As a Grants Manager, what is my role in the reporting tool?
    • Print award description and verify with PI this is correct.
    • Make corrections accordingly and save in tool. Request project status (including subs) from PI (not started, less than 50%, 50% to 100%, or completed) and enter into tool.
    • Promote code.
    • Save.
  2. If supplement is closed do we still report?
    If supplement was closed prior to first day of quarter (ex: October1) no you do not report. If closed after first day of quarter (ex: October 1) yes you report in current quarter.
  3. What does “closed” mean?
    Final report submitted and accepted by sponsor. All final transactions are complete (Revenue, Expense, Duke closeout procedure complete).
  4. How are FTE’s calculated?
    This is a system-generated number which aggregates the employees that were paid from the beginning of the grant through the current quarter.
  5. Can the funds from a supplement be used in the development of the parent project?
    No, expenses related to the supplement can not be used on the parent award and the parent award expenses can not be used on the supplement.
